Theatre Productions

Lapin Lapin

This was my first production at Pittsburg State University and lead to a lot of lasting relationships. It also reintroduced me to quick changes and the amount of multitasking and time management that those bring. It was one of my favorites shows I did at Pitt and my friends and I still talk about it from time to time.

Theatre Unplugged: Purple Ink

This was my introduction to short form theatre, as well as working with a newer director. I had very good experience with this production and I learned how to work with multiple different set setups at once. It was also interesting to see how each director set everything up and put everything together.

The 39 Steps

I worked the projector for this production and it was a very interesting experience. It was my first time working up in the booth and it taught me how to efficiently multitask and improve my hand-eye coordination due to needing it for timing. It was also fun to do more behind the scenes work, as before this show, my only backstage work was setting props and sets.

South Pacific

I worked wigs for this production and this was my first traveling Broadway production. I restyled the wigs and helped pin the wigs on the actors. I remember being terrified of digging the pins into the actors' scalps, though they kept reassuring me that it wouldn't have been a big deal. It showed me a different side of theater that I hadn't seen before with the aspect of traveling while performing and the experiences that came with it.

Once Upon a Mattress

I forgot to grab a program for this production, however, I had three different roles in this production with 5 quick changes in the first act. I played Princess #5 (?), Emily (who I didn't have lines for, just a quick change, walk on stage, and then walk off), and a lady in waiting. This was the first time I was ever mic'd and the second musical I have been in.

Theatre Unplugged: Relative Strangers

I directed in one of the productions. I picked my one-act due to the balance of comedy and drama, as well as the general chaos of the piece when it comes to the characters. I found the challenges of casting and directing to be an informative experience. Working with the other directors came with a completely different set of experiences and while I do think we could have done better, I would not trade those experiences.

Emilia

I had 4 different roles in this production with 10 quick changes. It caused me to learn how to efficiently utilize space and time while still best utilizing help when needed. I also had to memorize two dances, as well as Shakespeare and I despise Shakespeare. It was also a really amazing play to be in and I learned some new things about historical figures that I did not know before.

Theatre Unplugged: Bad Auditions by Bad Actors

I had several quick changes in this production, but that was one of the easier parts of these roles. This also came with the challenges of different levels of physical extortion and vocal techniques, I even had to sprint around the theater while screaming. It was really fun to work with my friends in such a chaotic show.

Not Pictured: Annie

I worked wigs for this Broadway production. I primarily styled, shuttled and re-pinned the wigs. This was also interesting as the person in charge of these wigs didn't use much hairspray on the wigs and I was able to more take down an restyling of the wigs versus my previous experience where I refreshed the hairspray, for the most part.

M is for Murderer

This was the first show I worked on costumes. I will say, Lisa was a treat to work with and I got really good at ironing while working with costumes. I also got to cut out a pattern and reattach a button and some Velcro. Honestly, costumes was a part of my training that I know how to do, but don't utilize often, so it was nice to actually use that training.
